Demi Lovato, Charlize Theron and a number of other popular youth-oriented starlets have raised eyebrows with some of their recent fashion choices. Theron wore a white dress with a neckline that plunged to her waist for the Gotham Independent Film Awards. Lovato showcased her naval and much of her chest with a violet gown she wore to the Latin Grammys. “While hemlines have dropped, the focus is showing off skin in a big way,” says Katrina Mitzeliotis, fashion editor for HollywoodLife.com. “Thanks to sheer panels and cut-outs, stars are also getting strategic with the way they’re showing off.” Some experts believe all this risqué fashion is problematic when you factor in the youth who look up to those stars. “It normalizes showing more skin,” says clinical psychologist Jeffrey Gardere. “If America and the starlets say it’s OK to show skin, these young girls who idolize them will think it is appropriate and glamorous also.” (Fox News)
