Mobile data usage among teens has exploded in the past year. According to data from Nielsen, youth between the ages of 13 and 17 use about 321 megabytes of data on their phones every month—more than three times what they were using the same time last year. A good chunk of that data comes in the form of texts. Teens sent or received around 3,417 texts a month, translating into about seven texts every hour a teen is awake. Girls are far more prone to text than boys, exchanging 3,952 texts. (Nielsen)
