Much has been written during the last few years about the Emergent Church. Questions about its orthodoxy or realism are often at the forefront. Into the midst of this debate comes a new offering from the Emergent Church side.
The content of this book does what much of the material from the Emergent Church attempts to do. It poses questions about our inherited faith structures and asks readers to follow along to see if there are ways to invigorate our faith by critically re-examining it. The work follows this format but also personalizes it by filtering it through the faith journey of author Doug Pagitt.
The result is a highly readable and engaging work. The one weakness is that a reader might want a bit more depth of analysis. Overall, it is another great contribution to a good conversation about the future of Christianity, especially for those who feel left out.
