While this book has its humorous moments, the majority is a critical commentary on the idiosyncrasies, the ironies and the idiocies of what passes for theology in most of our established churches in a postmodern culture. Ramsey takes particular aim at the “emergent” movement and includes a transparent vulnerability into his own struggles along his faith journey writing as a guide to those who feel disenfranchised or disillusioned with conventional theologies.
Don’t let the title fool you: Ramsey is passionate about the defense of his faith and the truth of the gospel. The value of his book brings us to examine honestly what we believe and why, and how we engage a world that does not share our beliefs, even within the diversity of the Christian family.
