“After these things, Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples by the sea of Tiberias” (John 21:1).
The Gospel of John ends with the disciples in Galilee. After hearing the news that Jesus has risen, they return home and find themselves, once again, at their fishing nets. They have returned to what they knew—what they loved.
This account has much to tell us about where we find Jesus, and how. It tells us that we will see Jesus in the mundane, in the ordinary affairs of life if we will look for Him.
Every year, after our Easter celebrations, I always invite our church members and guests to take Jesus back home with them. If Jesus remains a distant personality confined to the church or Someone we visit a few times a year, then He cannot impact our homes and daily lives. When we invite Jesus back home with us, He can impact and influence everything we do.
Jesus shows Himself to us in our work and leisure, as well as our difficulties. When we go back home with Jesus, He always shows up at unexpected times and places—maybe even at the dinner table or on a game night or during quiet family conversations. We need not look so hard for Christ, tot when He is at home with us.
