This intriguing back-to-school challenge makes a wonderful icebreaker (or a prize package) for your first meeting of the new school year. Purchase a backpack, fill it with various school supplies (e.g., pencils, pens, notebooks, journal, erasers, markers, calculator, etc.), and then allow everyone in the group to handle, shake and otherwise examine the backpack closely (without opening it). Provide an index card and pencil for each student and invite each one to write down what he or she believes the backpack contains. The student coming closest to the actual contents of the backpack wins the prize.
