In the spirit of the winter Olympics, here are three indoor games that can be played with balloons. Some are individual games, others require teamwork.
Balloony Toons
This game will require the long variety of balloons used to create animals and figures. Give each person two of these balloons and then see who can create the best animals, shapes or forms.
Balloon Ball
This team game will require each participant to carry a fly-swatter (you should be able to purchase these inexpensively at a dollar store). Divide into two teams, blow up two round balloons, and see which team can keep its balloon afloat the longest (neither popping nor hitting the floor) by batting the balloon back into the air with the fly swatter.
Balloon Board
This game can be played individually or in teams. First, secure several thumb tacks to a wall using tacky putty (the points sticking out). You should arrange these in a dartboard fashion or assign point values to the various thumb tacks depending on height or difficulty. Create a line on the floor about 5 feet from this wall. Participants take turns batting their inflated balloons onto the tacks. When the balloon pops, assign a point value based on the tacks. (Hint: You might use a small step ladder to secure the tacks to the wall so participants have to bat their balloons upward.)
