From the story: “The Celebration of a New Baptist Covenant, conceived in large measure by former President Jimmy Carter, was intended to bring together Baptists across racial, geographical and organizational lines. An estimated 14,500 people attended at least part of three full days of sermons, speeches, music and workshops with a focus on such topics as evangelism, poverty, immigration, peacemaking, responding to natural disasters and protecting religious liberty.”
