No matter what your kids think when they hear the words “Christian movie,” youth leaders needn’t be ashamed to play Love at First Sight and Relapse for their kids.
At under a half hour each, these two mini-movies co-created by singer Michael W. Smith’s son Ryan are actually entertaining to watch. Plus, they don’t contain any of the shocking production flaws that have long plagued Christian films.
Each DVD comes with a leader’s guide designed to stimulate small-group discussions. After watching Love at First Sight, will your kids want to have a thoughtful discussion about biblical figures like Hosea and Gomer or devolve into a chat about the film’s characters? These raw materials are good, but a great group discussion still requires a great leader who knows how to draw out kids; and that ability doesn’t come in a kit, not even a good kit.
