With divorce rates continuing to rise, it’s no secret that marriages in America need help. Beyond books that explain issues and multi-step plans to fix them, materials that provide biblical guidance and application points to get couples talking are needed.
Closer, written by Jim and Cathy Burns, provides just that resource. The 52 devotionals not only are raw and transparent as the Burns’ admit their own struggles in marriage, but also are accompanied by fantastic questions and suggestions that quickly cut below the surface and get a couple talking with God, as well as with each other.
Of the many couple’s devotionals my wife and I have tried, Closer is by far our favorite. This is a must-have for those who are married and a great resource to put into the hands of parents as healthy marriages lead to healthy homes for the kids with whom we work.
