A 13-year-old girl who wants to become the youngest person to sail solo around the world is to be put under the dual custody of the care services and her parents, after an extraordinary ruling by a Dutch court today.
Laura Dekker, who spent the first first four years of her life at sea, will be assessed by an independent child psychologist on her capacity to undertake the risky voyage, which has the support of her parents.
