This is a feel-good Hallmark movie that’s great for family viewing and for use in youth groups. The movie follows 17-year-old Brooke Preston, a talented equestrienne who must choose between going professional (her father’s dream) or going to college and becoming a veterinarian (her dream).
A few things make the movie stand out: the main character is a healthy, beautiful girl who looks like girls we know, not a size-0 supermodel; there is a teen love interest, but it’s not the prince charming who is supposed to make everything better; and the parents’ story is a little more complicated than a set of clueless parents who just don’t understand.
Messages to discuss with youth include: discerning your future, dealing with pride, balancing the needs of the individual with the needs of one’s community, and healthy romantic relationships.
