Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wrong
Mary Kassian
Moody Publishers, 2010, 267 pp., $14.99, MoodyPublishers.com
Concerned with the state and portrayal of modern womanhood, Kassian discusses 20 topics and contrasts the “wise” and “wild” way to approach each topic. The points of contrast include: appearance, body language, roles, sexual conduct, focus and sustainability. The text is complimented by charts, personal anecdotes, many Scripture references and discussion questions that can be found online. I did, however, find some of her interpretations of Scripture to be problematic and taken out of context. For that reason, I do not like this text but see where it could be useful for a women’s small group if coupled with reading Scripture in context.
