The culmination of 18 months of visionary dedication and planning will become reality with the launch of The God Rally Project ’08, a June 20-22nd Christian event festival staging of music, ministry, and community outreach in the Rockies.
God Rally ’08 will be held in Rifle, CO, at Garfield County Fairgrounds with an ambitiously planned schedule of three days of nationally known music arists, speakers, extreme sports, and special events targeted to reach youth and their parents. Availability of onsite and offsite camping will complement the ‘family friendliness’ of the experience. The event is partnering in outreach with the international work of Food for the Hungry.
Headlining artists include Big Daddy Weave, John Waller, and Gunnpoint Ministries. Support artists Robin Mark, Jimmy Needham, and New Creation Worship will help fill the more two dozen artist musical billing slots.
The God Rally Project began more than a year and a half ago as the vision of event director, Rob Lohman. “I felt called to organize a free concert to reach across generations, denominations, and cultures with a variety of music, speakers, and activities geared to reach everyone,” Lohman said. He feels the location is specifically strategic to host the event. “We feel called to help lift the darkness over the I-70 corridor,” adds Lohman who has enlisted a local army of churches, community businesses and individual volunteers to organize, underwrite, and pray over the massive undertaking. “The county where we are staging has one of the largest suicides rates in Colorado, so we consider this an outreach with long-term positive effects that can extend far beyond the community.” It’s the first presentation of what Lohman envisions becoming an annual major Christian music festival event.
Main stage speakers over the three days will include Duffy Robbins, Foster Christy, Dwight Robertson, and Jude Del Hierro.
Special events onsite include a Sunday Morning Community Worship Service, Motorcyle Rally Ride, Tribute to the Armed Services by Captain Chris Plekenpol, Pro Basketball Clinic, Youth Rally with Duffy Robbins and Zane Black of Dare2Share Gospel Journey, as well as a full agenda of music stages and activities set over the Friday through Sunday schedule
