All players but one are the geese. They form a single line, each player with his hands on the waist of the person in front of him. The other player is the gander. The object is for the gander to tag the last goose in line. To prevent this, the head goose moves around, swinging the line from side to side and using his arms to block the gander. The head goose may not, however, hold the gander. When the gander finally succeeds in tagging the last goose, he then joins the line at the end, and the head goose becomes the new gander.

Variations: Hook On is for larger groups numbering as many as 40 or so. All the players but one form up into lines with four or five players in each. The one player who is the runner moves from line to line trying to hook on to the back of any column, as in Goose and Gander.
