This six-week, small-group study for girls ages 12 and up challenges them to “give up restrictive eating, calorie counting, weighing and measuring, and other diet-like practices as you learn how to approach food with freedom and confidence” from the premise that dieting only intensifies one’s focus on food, body and self.
You’ll want each participant to have her own highly interactive journal. Each session includes personal study, teaching, testimonies, prayer, an “accountability moment,” journal space for reflections, a challenge and memory verse–all related to eating habits and body image.
The ultimate goals of Heal are inward transformation by bringing God into one’s daily interactions with food and allowing Him to heal teh deepest hungers. The authors want girls to reach a “God-mandated size” by obeying their stomach’s hunger and fullness cues. Practical and crucial, I plan on taking my high school girls’ small-group through this study.
