It’s a Wonderful (Imperfect) Life: Devotional Readings for Women Who Strive Too Hard to Make It Just Right
Joan C. Webb
Regal, 2009, 206 pages, $12.99, Regalbooks.com

While the title suggests the book is for perfectionists, the actual content would resonate with most women. Webb describes the problem as “more than action addiction or trying too hard to make it all just right.” For her, it “includes media overload, financial overload, tech overload, sensory/Hollywood overload, info overload, overeating, over-shopping, over-dieting, over-studying, over-helping, over-knowing, over-achieving, over-choice and over-spiritualizing.” There are no solutions offered, but the questions in the “Make it Personal” section in each of the 163 devotions may help readers discover their own “aha” moments.

This isn’t a devotion book that relies heavily on Scripture. Only one verse is listed in each devotional, and most of the content is the author’s own life experiences. While it is well-written, there is nothing new or compelling here. The busy woman might not want to make it a priority.
