Last summer, my former pastor was in an accident and should have died. God saved him.
He was helping people and tripped and fell of a cliff and hung upside down for two hours in the heat until a random lady heard a dog barking and walked over to see what was going on and found him down the cliff with his leg caught in a root that saved him from plunging down all the way to his death. He was flown by helicopter to a trauma unit where he stayed for a month an a half. He is now in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and is paralyzed from the waist down.
He is a great man of God who, before his accident, for two years was my accountability partner every Thursday. He spoke into my life when no one else would. He was someone God used to make my life better. He helped make me into the man I am and am becoming. He helped me through some rough times in my life.
My heart in this song was to encourage him and others to know they are appreciated for the work they do and are needed and valued when they do what they are called to do. I think we all can know people who hold that place in our lives. This song is a new direction in my music and is one I want not only to share with the world, but that I hope will impact those who are hurting in the world.
