Have you ever wondered what it takes to start a new church? It is with this question in mind that church planters Nelson Searcy and Kerrick Thomas passionately share their story of establishing The Journey Church in New York City. Using their experience as a backdrop, Searcy and Thomas outline a three-step model that involves foundation, formation and implementation.
From the initial calling to building lasting systems, the authors recount what they learned as they prioritized and navigated each step, explaining that the purpose of Launch is “not to provide you with theory but with a proven and strategic process to take your new church from scratch to success and significance.” While there are general themes that are useful for anyone serving in a church, this resource, and the Web site www.churchfromscratch.com, are clearly geared toward encouraging individuals and teams who are seriously exploring the church planting process.
