Overview: “Race to 100” has a slight resemblance to the dice game “Yahtzee,” only on steroids and a whole lot more fun. It is a fast moving game of chance.

Logistics:
Ideal for ages 12-22
Best played with 5-8 students
Equipment needed: 1 Die, 1 Pen, Blank Papers, Table
Time: 10-15 minutes

How to Play “Race to 100”:
Everyone sits closely around a table with a piece of blank paper placed in front of each person. Randomly give one person the pen and another person the die. (It is best to give them to people opposite of each other).

The game begins when the first person with the die rolls it and at the same time the person with the pen begins writing from 1-100 as fast as possible, as legibly and in as straight a line across the paper as possible. (The numbers need to be in order; no numbers can be skipped).

Once the person with the die rolls, everyone except the person writing the numbers looks at the number on the die. If the number rolled is anything but a 3 or a 6, the person either passes the die to the next person on the left (clockwise) around the table or the person the left just grabs the die off the table and quickly throws it back onto the table.

If a person rolls a 3, everyone acting quickly must pass the paper in front of him or her the person on the right (counter-clockwise). If the person with the pen is passed a blank piece of paper, he or she must start over from 1. If the paper he or she is passed already has numbers written on it, then he or she may continue where the previous person stopped writing numbers on that page.

If a person rolls a 6, then the person who rolled the 6 is given the pen immediately (Don’t throw it) or grabs it from the person writing numbers to begin writing from 1-100 at the highest number already on the paper.

The die is passed and rolled until another person rolls a 3 or 6 again. Lastly, if the die comes around to the person who is writing to 100 with the pen, he or she is skipped, and the die is given to the next person to the left (clockwise).

The point of the game is to be the first one get to 100, by writing 1, 2, 3…100 on a paper with the pen.

For a fun twist (if you feel creative enough), try adding an additional guideline in accordance to when a person rolls a 1 or whatever number you select. For example: If a person rolls 1, make everyone get up and switch seats. Or when starting the game, have everyone write backwards from 100 (100, 99, 98…1).
