A number of newspaper or large sheets of cardboard (as many as there are players) are scattered around the floor. After the music starts and the players march around the floor single file to the right, the leader removes one sheet of paper. When the music stops, each player must find a sheet of paper to stand on. The one person who cannot find a “magic carpet” is eliminated. This action is repeated until only one player-the inner-remains in the game.
Variations: In Prison, a wide rectangle is marked across the floor with chalk. This is the “prison”. As music is played, contestants either singly or in pairs walk around the floor in a circle, passing through the prison each time around. When the music stops, any person or pair caught in the “prison” is eliminated. This is repeated until only on person- or one pair- is left.
