With mental illness affecting one of every four families in the United States, Pathways to Promise has organized a three-day, faith-based summit designed to help churches and clergy better address this serious and, some say, growing problem.
The “Companions on the Road to Recovery from Mental Illness–Pathways for the 21st Century” summit will be conducted Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Indiana. The conference’s general sessions will offer an overview as to what resources are available to churches, as well as lay the foundation for how churches and ministries can best fit within this network. Workshops and breakout sessions will, according to a recent press release, “focus on model ministries, specific resources and special issues, such as the needs of elders, returning veterans, rural mental health, addictions and mental illness among those who are homeless or in prison.”
