Though women certainly will reap helpful ideas and practices from this book, it is purposefully addressed to men. War imagery, sports stories and battle metaphors abound—but this isn’t just another light-on-content men’s ministry book.
Sonderman shares an abundance of practical material for strategically using your time and resources to engage men in ministering to the men around them through real relationships and deep discipleship (as opposed to programs and events). Readers will learn (among other things) about male motivations and desires, evangelizing men, helping men grow spiritually and developing a leadership pipeline.
I especially loved the chapters on ministering to 20-something-aged men and helping men through crises. In the former chapter, postmodernism and its implications for men’s ministry are discussed. In the latter chapter, a plethora of crises that face men are treated with practical, compassionate advice.
