Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama won a Grammy in this year’s awards in the “Best Spoken Word” Category.
Though many may speculate that the award was given for a popular video circulating the internet which features Obama’s “Yes We Can” Speech, the award was given for his audio version of “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.”
Obama won an award in the same category in 2005 for the audio version of “Dreams from My Father.”
Interestingly enough, Barack’s album ran against and beat two other men who have shared Whitehouse aspirations – Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:
What do you think about the “mashing” of entertainment and politics? What sorts of conversations do you have with students to help them understand the value of voting with conscience?
