Mitchell and Goad have put together a first-rate resource for young ladies that addresses relevant topics about growing up as a girl who can make a difference in the world today. It empowers, encourages and leaves the reader feeling hopeful that her life is destined for something special.
When addressing passion and leadership style, it appears the book is intended for the more mature teenager who is ready to look at herself and make decisions for the future. Much of the study however, is relevant for middle and high school girls.
The authors do an excellent job of intertwining teaching, self-assessment, personal stories and examples in an easy-to-read and interesting format.
The Leader Guide facilitates small groups, weekend retreats or even weeklong camps. Inexperienced leaders easily can follow and capitalize on their own strengths. The more experienced facilitator will find the many options of discussion starters, breakout questions, icebreakers and activities helpful to hone in on individual leadership styles and give fresh perspectives to longstanding issues.
The Journal provides good leading questions that tie in nicely with the information shared in the accompanying books. In addition, plenty of space is available for girls to write down their own thoughts and ideas.
