This book is long overdue! Written to be read and used by 11- to 15-year-old African-American males, Perkins presents insights on identity, purpose, education, leaving a legacy and other key points for boys. Perkins sees himself as a life coach, and in each section, the coach presents key insights on a topic using sports language and then asks questions for each boy to respond to and think about how their lives best can reflect these key plays. While written particularly for African-American boys, the text contains universal truths and challenges that can be adapted for different cultures and ethnicities. This is a great gift for boys and is a must-have tool for youth pastors, teachers, parents and mentors.
