Have you ever been at the gym, running on the treadmill or maybe over in the weights section and reached that place in your workout where everything inside you is saying, ”Stop What You Are Doing To Me!” Minutes ago things were fine, you were working hard but your body was working with you to make it happen. Before you know it though, your mind and body have taken two different courses.
At that moment you have two choices: 1. Quit or 2. Press On
I can say that in the workout scenario, I’ve taken both options. Unfortunately in life, I have taken both options too. I’d like to tell you I’ve never quit something before I should or that I never sabotaged myself so that “I was no longer allowed” to continue, but I can’t say that. There have been many times in my life where quitting just made things easier, or so I thought. That short-term relief of being done with something hard or seemingly insurmountable so often turned to regret for the immature decision to quit.
What I’m proud to say, is that over the years there have also been quite a few times when I chose to press on. And believe me, it’s a choice. Often no one else is going to get you there. Sure, folks will encourage you and try to support you, but in the end it’s on you. In my experience, the only person you can fully trust in, that will stay with you through anything, is God. There’s something supernatural about what you can achieve, if you allow Him to be your strength.
In those moments when you are ready to give up, back down, quit…if you will talk to Him (prayer), He will give you what you need to get beyond your current circumstances.
Disclaimer, I’m not saying everything will be easy. Or that you have a “get out of jail free” card, so no need for you to really make an effort. Quite the opposite. God is no genie in a lamp that we can summon whenever we need Him. He is a Savior King, worthy of our praise and adoration at all times. Again, that’s not easy to do either. Life has a way of distracting us from the things we know we should do, spend our time on, etc. It’s only when we make a conscious decision to “Press On” that we will find His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
What are you struggling with? Where do you need to call on God for strength? What are you ready to quit (or maybe already have)? It’s time to stop pushing with all your strength to lift the weight you’re bearing; turn to THE source so you can press on!
