Generally speaking, Psalms for All Seasons is somewhat liturgical and would be a great resource for a more traditional mindset and ministry. Youth groups or congregations looking to explore a more meditative approach to the Psalms will be able to pull out applications for their context, such as responsive worship and musical arrangements that unearth the spirit of Scripture.
The book’s greatest strength also creates a caution that this type of material may become a new toy for postmoderns. Each prayer or historic detail of the Psalm isn’t meant to become the latest and greatest form of worship, but footnotes that help participants join practices that transcend culture. My sense is the audience for this piece is more academic than pastoral.
