Mark and Grace Driscoll
Thomas Nelson, 2012, $39.99
Anytime a pastor as well known and polarizing as Mark Driscoll covers a topic as debatable as sex and marriage, you are going to find a whole lot of curious people itching to hear about the gritty details. Even CNN wants to know what a pastor says in a “Can we do that?” sex question chapter. While these topics coming from a pastor might be shocking in mainstream media, they are probably nothing new to your student ministry where similar discussions about “How far is too far?” hopefully happen on a regular basis.
The Real Marriage DVD contains 10- to 15-minute unscripted discussions between Mark and his wife, Grace. The 11 sessions are designed to accompany the chapters in their new book of the same name.
While the promotional material claims the topics here include friendship, porn and regret (among others) can apply to couples and singles, you should know the subject matter is much more conducive to mature single adults who are preparing for a marital relationship and not a 17-year-old single junior in high school. There is not a whole lot here that will be directly applicable to your students, but this might be a resource you could consider using with a group of parents that you are very, very, very comfortable with in a small group setting.
