Sometimes an unlikely novel comes along to deliver a messy message of heart-warming reconciliation and renewed hope, and only a fictional collection of quirky characters allows the reader to appreciate the real-life lessons revealed in the plot like buried treasure.

Birdie Wainwright is an unreserved, uninhibited old lady. Along with her dog, Miss Bee Haven, she has real-life visitations from Mark Twain’s character Huckleberry Finn. Due to an injury, she comes to convalesce with her son. The story develops with whimsical twists and poignant imperfections of our shared humanity and the immeasurable interjections of God’s grace.

This would be a good book to read on vacation or when your spirit needs a little time away from the stresses of life.
