Smart. Insightful. Real. The Eversons, a mother-daughter team, have done an excellent job of immersing themselves in the world of teen sexuality so you don’t have to. The report they have brought back is appalling. But they suffuse their book with hope that we will be able to help our kids live in a way that honors God in their sexuality. Sex, Lies, and High School presents several helpful tools including a reader’s guide with study questions, interviews with teens and parents, and a chapter-by-chapter blog by Jessica Everson. The authors do everything they can to prod parents and youth leaders into honest discussions with teens about sex. In one chapter concerning where to draw the line, they admonish, “Tell them in the most detailed terms—even the ones you aren’t so comfortable with—what does and does not constitute sex.”
If you’re looking for insights about your teen’s sexual environment, read this book.
