Sinner

Having read Dekker’s Circle Trilogy (Black, Red, White), and two of his other books, THR3E and Obsessed, I picked up Sinner (third in its respective series) with the ignorantly wistful longing to read the first two books (Showdown, Saint) in their proper, linear order. However, Dekker provides a succinct, two-page prologue in Sinner to quickly introduce the reader to the pertinent facts, situations and characters. Jumping into the series mid-stream is uncomplicated.
Sinner easily stands alone, though the nature of Dekker’s writing prompts one to pursue the other books in the larger series. He writes marvelously with a contemporary air of biblical themes, such as the confrontation between good and evil, of human choice, free will and the subsequent consequences that follow vanity, power and short-term gratification. Then there are those who strive to preserve virtue and righteousness.
