During the dog days of summer heat, outdoor water games can be popular, and Sponge Out is a blast. Divide the group into teams, give each team a box of sidewalk chalk, and then instruct each team to create a large chalk drawing in a selected square of the parking lot. After five minutes, each team should have created the largest drawing possible.
Next, give each team a large bucket of water and a handful of sponges. Each team then works together to erase or sponge out the other team’s chalk drawings. The more teams, the more drawings, the greater the fun. This game also can be ratcheted up a notch if you allow one person on each team to guard his or her team’s drawing. Sponges can be used to wipe at the chalk or may be tossed.
