We often find ourselves face to face with situations and circumstances that are less than desirable. It’s during those times when we struggle to make sense of our pain and find ourselves questioning God’s faithfulness. In Lauren Chandler’s first book, Steadfast Love, she reminds readers that “what we choose to use as our ‘anchor’ determines how well we will weather the seasons of life.” The preview sampler of her forthcoming book is packed full of images of God’s steadfast love and His faithfulness in the midst of our questioning. Chandler does an especially great job of addressing the desert in which we often find ourselves and reminds us that God is always in the details regardless of whether we feel Him.
While there were some good pieces of wisdom and encouragement in her writing, I was disappointed that Chandler does not share her personal story of crisis, though that may come in the full book. The book was a bit scattered and hard to follow, and readers may walk away wondering if it is meant to be more of a devotional or story of her personal journey. I am looking forward to the complete work, hoping it will clarify my understanding.
