Suicide is the second leading cause of death of people ages 15-29, killing more youth and young adults than all other medical illnesses combined. That’s tragedy enough, but, considering the theological issues at play, Christians often have a difficult time dealing with the issue of suicide and comforting survivors. Stauros, U.S.A., will present a one-day conference titled “Suicide: They Die Too Young” on Sept. 7 at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. The conference will feature several workshops as well as keynote speeches from Dr. David Jobes, past president of the American Association of Suicidology, and survivor Stephanie Weber.
The conference is intended for chaplains, counselors, campus and youth ministers, graduate ministry students and survivors. For more information, go to www.stauros.org/conference.html.
