Sadly, high school graduations and summer breaks frequently lead teenagers into poor decisions. Car accidents, alcohol and drugs, petty crime—all of these and more can be part and parcel of the summer time experience for many
But teenagers also long for the security and protection of God. It is helpful to keep our teenagers in mind when we lift them up for God’s refuge and guidance. Few teenagers seem to escape their high school years without some unexpected twists and turns of fate, or even some close.
Many teenagers also appreciate the friendship of the church during the summer months, and having occasional times together can be very helpful. Movie nights, having an ice cream sundae, or even gathering at a local park for an evening of fun and conversation can all be helpful during the dog days of
Be sure to ask your teenagers about some of their favorite summer activities. Plan a few of these into your summer.
The summer months don’t have to be a break from the friendships of the church. They can also be a source of sanctuary and security. They can be a source of deep blessing to those who are looking for a place to belong.
