Introduction: If you could choose to be famous for something, what would it be? Have you ever met someone who is famous? Who? How did people react when they saw him or her?

2. Let’s break this passage down and see why Jesus’ statement is so significant.
v. 1: What was Jesus doing in this verse? Where was He heading?
v. 2-3: Who else was coming to the olive grove? Who was leading them there?
v. 4: Did Jesus know this was going to happen to Him? Why would He go there anyway?
Let’s pause for a moment and think this through. Jesus prepared Himself for this most difficult of nights by praying. He then went exactly where He knew He’d be betrayed. He was in total control. These jealous religious leaders and this detachment of soldiers were not the ones in control of the situation. They brought torches, lanterns and weapons to capture only one Man. What happens next?

v. 5: Who answered the question? What did they say?
Who was standing with the people there to capture Jesus?
What was Jesus’ answer?
v. 6: What did the people do when they heard Jesus say this?
