Mobs of tourists have descended on Forks, Wash., the small town that is the setting for the Twilight novels. Author Stephenie Meyer was looking for a town that was “small, out of the way, surrounded by forest.” She landed on Forks, which has a permanent population of 3,120. Over the last year or so, tourism has more than tripled. Lodging occupancy is up, and local merchants sell Twilight-inspired accessories. (New York Times)
