If you have a large vacant wall in your church, gymnasium or youth room, “Wall Ball” can be a fun option on a rainy day. Begin by creating a masking tape grid on the wall (either like-sized squares or of differing sizes) and number the squares with numeric values, with the smaller squares (or higher ones) having greater value. Create a line on the floor at least 15 feet away from the wall.
The game is played with a small, soft ball (tennis balls work best, though racket balls also work in larger areas). Teens take turns individually, or as teams, standing behind the line and bouncing the ball on the floor and onto the grid on the wall. Wherever the ball strikes the wall, that player receives the corresponding number of points.
The game can be made more difficult by moving the line back or playing the game with a smaller ball. Use your imagination for this one as you can create many different styles and outcomes simply by changing a few rules.
