The names of famous men and women are printed on small slips of paper, and one of these slips is pinned to the back of each person entering the room. The players are not told the names. To determine his famous identity, each player circulates around the room, letting other players read the name on his back. He may then ask questions that will be answered only by a “yes” or “no.” By asking general questions- “Am I alive?” “Am I a man?” and the like- the player tries to gather enough information to take a guess at the name. When he guesses correctly, he may continue to play by answering questions of other players until all of the guests guess their identities.
Variations: In Guess Who? the players are handed the slips of paper so that each one knows his identity immediately. The object of the game is then to go around the room and try to guess the identities of other players in the same sort of “yes” or “no” questions. In Name Stealers, the names are pinned to the players’ backs. Each player tries to observe and write down as many names as he can in ten minute while trying to conceal his own name. Backing up against walls or furniture is not allowed.
