More appropriate titles for this book could be Apologetics for the Remaining Modernist Thinkers or Listing Apologetics. (Sailors will appreciate the pun.) The book is an attempt to repackage the discipline of Christian apologetics for a new generation using seemingly current topics such as homosexuality, Islamic Jihad and our narcissistic culture as means of entry. The issues, in reality, are covering material that has been addressed from Paul to St. Francis to C.S. Lewis.
The strictly linear discussions and incessant lists serve only to distract the reader from engaging with some worthwhile content and reinforce the modernist approach to defending the faith. The book may be useful as a reference if you’re on a limited budget and really like bullet points. Otherwise, dust off your C.S. Lewis books and invest some time into re-reading those.
