For kids who can’t keep earbuds out of their ears, try giving them Word of Promise Youth Edition. The simplified translation and dramatic readings (by famous young people) hopefully will spark interest in the Scripture.
Contemporary authors and scholars have produced The Voice to give life back to the narrative of Scripture. In many ways they are successful by showing dialogue as screen play (great for public presentation!) and presenting novel angles.
However, the text contains a bunch of commentary. In order to “clarify,” the writers have added italicized extras that weren’t in the original. Watch very carefully that this doesn’t come across as Scripture.
The text also feels a bit academic at times, despite a good effort to make it accessible. The Voice would be great for staging in your meetings and good for your devotions but not quite spot-on for a youth audience.
