GodTube.com, the upstart religious Web site based in Plano, Texas, has become one of the Internet’s hottest addresses. It grew a stunning 973 percent in one month last year; and last October it became the first religious Web site to offer YouTube-like video sharing, MySpace-like social networking and live webcasting, all in one package. It’s now the world’s largest broadcaster of Christian video.
Dozens of high-powered ministries–the late Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University and the Rev. Robert Schuller’s Crystal Cathedral, to name two–are partnering with GodTube. Smaller ministries are hopping on board, too. Pastor Justin Cox of Los Angeles’ Passion for Christ Movement uses GodTube to extend his reach well beyond the 60 people who show up to his services Sunday mornings, where he often preaches against hip-hop music’s portrayal of African Americans.
“I have to address Tupac before I can even get in there and address Jesus Christ,” he said. (Los Angeles Times)
