How to Play, “Wow, this is awkward!”
This game is a “Rock, Paper, Scissors” style game. The idea behind this game came to my student Mitch during a particularly awkward experience he shared with a friend. They had not seen each other in some time, and they were excited to be reunited. When they first walked up to each other, Mitch offered his hand to him, while at the exact same time; his friend stuck his fist out. That’s where the awkwardness began. Mitch goes for the handshake. His friend went for the bump. “Wow, this is awkward!”

You play the game by finding a partner and in pairs standing back-to-back count to three. Both players turn around with one of the following greetings: handshake, fist bump or hug. Whoever loses must submit to the victor’s greeting by doing the winning greeting and both saying, “Wow, this is awkward.” The winner moves on to play other winners until only one remains!

Win/Loss Combinations:
• Handshake defeats Fist Bump
• Fist Bump defeats Hug
• Hug defeats Handshake
