Schools that suspend students for using pot have more students who, in fact, use it, according to a study from the Center for Adolescent Health at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Victoria, Australia.
On some level, the research makes sense: Suspensions allow marijuana users more free time to do what they’d like and perhaps fraternize with more users, but the results suggest pot usage across the board goes up in such schools.
“We suggest further research to follow this up,” said lead author Tracy J. Evans-Whipp. “It could be that students in suspension-using schools feel their schools wouldn’t support them if they got into trouble.” (Fox News)
