About one in every four undergraduate women have reported unwanted sexual contact, according to a new survey.

The online survey received feedback from approximately 150,000 female students from 27 colleges and universities about their sexual history, 23 percent of undergraduate respondents said they’d either been physically forced or threatened by force to participate in sexual acts, ranging from kissing to intercourse.

Experts say this figure might be slightly misleading: The survey originally was sent to 780,000 students, so those who responded might be more likely to have had a bad experience. Still, the results are in line with what other studies have found. (U.S. News and World Report)
