The benefits of playing active video games such as those played on the Wii may be overstated, according to new research. Scientists found that kids who were given such games to play didn’t see a dramatic uptick in moderate or vigorous exercise than those who played more stationary games. While researchers say Wii games and others that encourage movement may help burn a few more calories, the effect is pretty minimal. “Is the Wii going to really contribute to getting those 60 minutes of physical activity [a day]?” says Jacob Barkley, exercise scientist from Kent State University. “I don’t think so.” (Fox News)
