Alcohol advertisements can lead teens to drink, according to a study published in JAMA Pediatrics. If the teen already drinks, such ads can encourage the habit.
“It’s very strong evidence that underage drinkers not only are exposed to television advertising, but also assimilate the messages,” says Dr. James Sargent, a professor of pediatrics at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. “That process moves them forward in their drinking behavior.” (Time)
