While Huck Finn may not have been shown a lot of love around Pennsylvania this month, another book—the Bible—is seeing its popularity soar in some very surprising places.
The YouVersion Bible app is a wildly popular Bible-reading app that tallied 100 million downloads in 2013. Just two years later, YouVersion is reporting its 200 millionth download. While much of the app’s growth can be attributed to new users in North America and Europe, it’s growing particularly quickly in some not-very-Christian-friendly countries.
In the past 100 million downloads, YouVersion has seen a 1,886-percent rise in downloads from—of all places—Iran. Downloads have increased by 240 percent in Pakistan, too, and 247 percent in Thailand. In China, where we’ve seen the communist government tear down churches, YouVersion has seen a 359 percent increase in downloads. (The Blaze)
