A huge majority of teens communicate through digital media every day, according to figures published by the Center for Media Research. A full nine out of every 10 teens ages 13 to 17 have used some form of social media, and 68 percent of teens text every day. More than half visit a social networking site daily. (Facebook is by far the most popular, with 75 percent saying they have profiles there.) More than a third say they visit the site several times during a 24-hour span. Nearly one-quarter—23 percent—are classified as “heavy” social media users, meaning they use at least two different types of social media daily. Half of teens say these online interactions have helped bolster their friendships, while 4 percent say they’ve hurt them. (MediaPost)
